Noch frühe großformatige Jahrgänge der wichtigen avantgardistischen Zeitschrift des Expressionismus, die eine der führenden Kunst- und Kulturpublikationen ihrer Zeit war.

"The weekly became the mouthpiece of the new literature and art; its publisher, a thirty-two-year-old musician and journalist, the most important promoter of modern art in Germany. From 1911 on he published the woodcuts and drawings of the Brücke artists, the school of Paris, and those of many other artists. Der Sturm 's large pages, with their modern design, proclaimed and disseminated the new movement .. The emphatic print of the masthead and the woodcut beneath established the image of the magazine, which remained the most important and also the most modern organ for Expressionist art and writing into the 1920s .. Today Der Sturm remains a unique document of Expressionism, in whose pages one can still discover, in the midst of the well-known Expressionists, many an unfamiliar or forgotten artist." Unter den zahlreichen originalgraphischen Arbeiten, die die Publikation illustrieren und einen beträchtlichen Teil ihres Wertes ausmachen, finden sich Holz- und Linolschnitte von H. Campendonk, J. van Heemskerk, C. Mense, V. Hofman, K. Schmidt-Rottluff, G. Schrimpf, M. Uhden, A. Topp u. a. Sämtliche Hefte liegen noch im größeren Format vor, erst nach dem 9. Jahrgang wurde das Format der Zeitschrift verkleinert.

Randläsuren (bes. in Bd. 9 am Unterrand), 2 Titelbll. als Probenummer gestempelt. Insgesamt in guter Erhaltung.

With a total of 76 original graphics and numerous illustrations. Later half calf binding with gilt title on spine. 42.5 : 32cm. - Volume 6 without issues 13-24; volume 7, issue 12 without pages 137-140. - Browned due to paper, partly with centre fold and small marginal defects (esp. in vol. 9 on the lower edge), 2 title pages stamped as sample number.
