"Dallaway spent 18 months as chaplain with Liston's embassy at the Porte (1794-6). He travelled to Constantinople overland in 1794 with Liston's entourage, which included John Sibthorp, author of the Flora Graeca and Gaetano Mercati who became Liston's draughtsman" (Blackmer). Neben Landschaften und Gebäuden beschreibt Dallaway (1763-1834) ausführlich die türkische Gesellschaft und Lebensart, deren Sprache und die wichtigen Persönlichkeiten der Zeit. Die Tafeln nach Mercat gestochen von Stadler.
EINBAND: Gesprenkelter Lederband der Zeit mit rotem Rückenschild und etw. Sparkeled calf with gilt decoration and label on spine. - Here and there slightly browned or foxed. Edges rubbed, back outer hinge repaired. Altogether fine wide margined copy. - 1 addition.
