Antiphonarblatt auf Pergament mit Bildinitiale "S". Bologna, ca. 1350-75.
Außergewöhnlich fein ausgeführte Bildinitiale mit seltener Darstellung von Papst Marcus. Die stilistische Nähe dieser prachtvollen Miniatur zu den Arbeiten des großen Bologneser Miniaturisten Nicolò di Giacomo läßt einen Künstler aus seinem Umkreis vermuten.
Einzelblatt aus einem Graduale mit fünf Notenreihen, foliiert lxxxxiiij Die Initiale zum Responsorium "Sacerdotes dei benedicite dominum" für das Fest des Hl. Marcus, Bischof von Rom im Jahr 336 (die Bezeichnung Papst wurde erstmals nach 384 verwendet).
Blattgröße 58,5 : 41 cm. Die rechteckige Initiale ca. 8 : 8 cm, in weißgehöhtem Pink auf Goldgrund mit weißgehöhtem Akanthus-Ausläufer in Pink, Blau, Rot und Grün sowie Goldpunkten; die Miniatur in Rot, Grün, Weiß, Gold und Inkarnat.
- ZUSTAND: Goldgrund teils berieben, sonst sehr gut erhalten.
Remarkably neat initial with the rare depiction of Pope Marcus. The stylistic closeness of this splendid miniature to the works by the great Bolognese miniaturist Nicolò di Giacomo suggests the authorship of an artist from this circle. Gilt background partly rubbed, else very well-preserved.
