Ruscha, Edward,
Sammlung von 9 Foto-Künstlerbüchern. Los Angeles, Hollywood u. Kalifornien 1970-1980.

Schöne Sammlung von Künstlerbüchern des Malers, Grafikers, Fotografen und Filmemachers Edward Ruscha (1937 geb.), dessen fotografische Bücher bis heute nichts von ihrer Faszination verloren haben: "The most renowned series of artist's books in the history of the genre, Ed Ruscha's work still retain in their capacity to surprise, delight and puzzle in equal measure. In the several decades since they were published, they have been much exhibited, written about and analyzed, yet they somehow are still objects of mystery and fascination, beguiling in their utter simplicity and immutable rightness. At the time of publication, they were largely overlooked by much of the photography world. The apparent anti-formalism and indifferent technique of Ruscha's pictures were derided; the perfect formalism of each book as an art object was not appreciated .. As often happens, it was like-minded artists - Sol LeWitt and Dan Graham for example - who understood most clearly the value of these projects, and who began making similar booksworks of their own." (Parr/Badger S. 140f.) - Vorhanden: I. Various Small Fires. (1970). - Zweite Ausgabe. - II. Some Los Angeles Apartments. (1970). - Zweite Ausgabe. - III. Every Building on the Sunset Strip. Royal Road Test. (1980). - Vierte Ausgabe. - V. Crackers. (1969). - Einzige Ausgabe. - VI. Babycakes With Weights. 1970. - Einzige Ausgabe. - VII.
